Your Most Frequently Asked Questions
It always surprises me how many clients we have visit us each month who say, “I’ve never had a massage before.” Say what? Well you’re in for a treat! Regardless of why you came in to see us, we are so glad you did! Venturing into the unknown can cause anxiety for some and we get ALL KINDS of questions thrown our way, so I wanted to take some time to answer some of the most frequently asked questions.
Do I have to undress? How far do I undress?
This is completely up to you! You are always covered with a top sheet and blanket. The therapist will only uncover the area that is being treated. Clients are invited to remove any pieces of clothing that they are comfortable with. We all have certain comfort levels and we always encourage you to discuss yours with your therapist. You being comfortable is paramount to a successful treatment.Do I need to shave my legs?
This used to be a HUGE concern of mine before I became a therapist and realized the truth. We honestly prefer if you don’t. Freshly shaved legs can be super sharp! Once there is any growth to the hair, we can’t even tell it’s there because of the massage lotion that is on our hands. Don’t ever be self-conscious about hair – we are most concerned about you having a fantastic experience. How often should I get a massage?
Depending on your treatment plan, your concerns and needs will vary. Some people need weekly treatments as a preventative tool to help maintain their mobility due to a medical condition and others seek massage as an effective treatment to help manage stress or headaches and others just love a great massage for nothing more than relaxation!
A large majority of clients find monthly massage to be most effective for maintenance.Do I talk? Is the therapist going to talk to me the whole time?
This is completely up to you! We ask you on our intake form if you prefer to chat during your session and our therapists are very skilled in reading our clients’ needs, and sometimes are known to ask you to have a quiet session if they need to have your tissue as relaxed as possible to affect change. If you find your therapist has misread your cues, it’s completely acceptable to say that you’re hoping for a quiet session to just quiet your mind. We all de-stress differently – some need to talk to relax and others need it to be silent. Are you a spa or a clinic? What is luxury massage therapy?
We are a hybrid clinic meaning we have a Luxury Spa Environment with clinical approaches and focus to treatment. We have three-inch memory foam toppers and heat on our tables, along with fireplaces in treatment rooms, hot towels and, if you prefer, essential oils. Our therapists provide individual clinical treatments and are skilled in all areas of massage therapy. We believe you shouldn’t have to pick between comfort, luxury or quality treatments – we give you all three!
